Earlier today, we had reported about a legal dispute between Eros and Akhanda 2 producers 14 Reels Entertainment, that led to Madras High Court putting a stay order on Akhanda 2's release. On Thursday night, a few hours before the film's release in India, Akhanda 2 confirmed that the release of their film is postponed for now.

Taking to their official X page, the production banner posted, "With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused."

While the production banner did not give a new release date for Akhanda 2, they promised an update soon. "Your support means the world to us. We promise to share a positive update very soon," they added.

It remains to be seen whether Akhanda 2 will release later this month or in early 2026. This update is also surely to cause major upheavals in the release plans of other major films in coming few weeks.
