The use of AI to morph and generate fake images of film celebrities, especially female film stars, has become rampant in the industry now. In the past few weeks, actors like Keerthy Suresh and Girija Oak openly spoke about the perils of AI and its misuse. Now Rashmika Mandanna has issued a statement on the subject.
Taking to her X page, Rashmika Mandanna posted, “When truth can be manufactured, discernment becomes our greatest defence.” Rashmika also noted how the misuse of AI to create vulgarity and target women ‘signals a deep moral decline in certain people.’
Further commenting on how internet and social media creates an illusion of reality, Rashmika remarked, “Remember, the internet is no longer a mirror of truth. It is a canvas where anything can be fabricated. Let us rise above misuse and use AI to build a more dignified and progressive society. Choose responsibility over recklessness.”
The Pushpa 2 actor also called for ‘strict and unforgiving statement’ for those misusing AI and indulging in these unhealthy practices.
It is to be noted that around 2 years ago, a deepfake video featuring Rashmika Mandanna had gone viral, post which the actor had to issue a clarification.
A few days ago, Keerthy Suresh had addressed the subject, stating, “I honestly don’t know where we’re heading with this AI trend or what people gain by creating such edits. It definitely hurts me and my family to see AI-edited or fully generated versions of me circulating online.”
Similarly, Girija Oak, who was recently seen in Perfect Family too spoke about the issue, after finding herself as the victim of many such AI-generated images that were demeaning in nature. “Some of these social media posts are also AI-morphed images of me, which are not in great taste. They are sexualised and objectified. Beyond comfort, and this bothers me.
