Telugu cinema is back to earnest lovestories. The makers of Roshan Kanakala’s upcoming film Mowgli 2025 unveiled the first teaser titled “The World of Mowgli” on Friday. Nani’s elegant voiceover introduces us to a remote forest with no mobile network and we see Roshan’s rugged Mowgli who rides horses and is a master of living in the jungle.
Mowgli falls for Sakshi Mhadolkar’s character but then conflict arises when Bandi Saroj Kumar, the internet famous indie filmmaker who is venturing into mainstream cinema, playing the menacing police inspector Nolan also takes a liking towards Sakshi’s character. Mowgli and Nolan lock horns and the former makes the latter and his team of 30 men run around the forest and survive in harsh conditions. Nani’s voiceover describes Mowgli as“not a gangster or a smuggler but just a 25-year-old lover” who goes tooth and nail for his love story.
Mowgli 2025 promises a compelling romantic actioner with solid music by Kaala Bhairava and strong rooted emotions, reminiscent of classic Telugu lovestories like Jayam and Varsham. The film marks Roshan Kanakala's (son of popular anchor Suma Kanakala) second feature film, after his debut Bubble Gum. Sakshi Mhadolkar is introduced to Telugu. The film is written and directed by Sandeep Raj, whose debut film Colour Photo won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu in 2020. This film marks his second directorial venture.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under the People Media Factory banner, Mowgli 2025’s technical team includes cinematographer Rama Maruti M, production designer Kiran Mamidi, editor Kodati Pavan Kalyan, and action choreographer Natraj Madigonda. Rama Murthy M and Radhakrishna Reddy have been credited as co-writers. The film’s release date is yet to be out.
