The Baahubali franchise is preparing for a major cinematic return later this year. Titled Baahubali: The Epic, the re-release will combine both parts of SS Rajamouli’s saga, Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), into one extended feature running 5 hours and 27 minutes.
According to latest reports, the new cut may include deleted sequences that never made it to theatres. Rajamouli is said to have shot more than 11 hours of material across the two films, much of which was left out during editing. Some of these unseen moments are now expected to be restored for the October release, making this version distinct from its earlier theatrical runs.
The re-release marks the 10th anniversary of Baahubali: The Beginning, which in 2015 became the first Telugu film to win the National Award for Best Feature Film. The sequel, released in 2017, went on to break box office records, grossing over Rs 1,800 crore globally. The franchise stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles, supported by Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Nassar.
While the original two-part series has long been celebrated for its scale and technical achievement, Baahubali: The Epic is positioned as a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. At over five hours, it is set to be one of the longest mainstream Indian films released in recent years. The film was backed by producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the Arka Media Works banner.
Rajamouli announced the re-release on social media earlier this year, describing the project as a way of marking “ten years of journeys, memories and inspiration.” With its worldwide release scheduled for October 31, the film is expected to draw both returning fans and new audiences curious to see the franchise in a single sitting.
