While promoting Paradha, Anupama Parameswaran became emotional during a media interaction in Vijayawada. Asked about her reception as the film’s lead, she said, “It’s my privilege that people are treating me like a hero. I am embracing it.”

However, she broke down when she reflected on the weight of responsibility: “Making a film is not an easy thing. And headlining a film as a woman and putting it forward to people is not an easy thing.” The film’s director, Praveen Kandregula, and producer offered their support as Anupama wiped away tears.

Paradha, directed by Praveen Kandregula, known for titles like Cinema Bandi and Subham, centres on Subbu, a young woman from a conservative village who adheres to tradition. Unexpected circumstances lead her on a trekking journey that broadens her worldview and reshapes her perspective on life.

The ensemble cast of Paradha includes Raghu Mayur, Sangitha Krish, Rajendra Prasad, and Harsha Vardhan. Produced by Vijay Donkada, Sreenivasulu PV, and Sridhar Makkuva under the Ananda Media banner, the film’s script is penned by Poojitha Sreekanti and Prahaas Boppudi, with an additional script doctor credit given to Krishna Prathyusha. Music is composed by Gopi Sundar, with lyrics by Vanamali.

The technical team includes cinematographer Mridul Sujit Sen, who reunites with Kandregula after Subham. Editing is by Dharmendra Kakarala, costumes by Poojia Tadikonda, and art direction by Srinivas Kalinga.

Anupama, last seen in Tillu Square, also appeared in Dragon and J.S.K – Janaki V v/s State of Kerala. Paradha also marks the Telugu debut of Darshana Rajendran, known for her performances in Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey and Hridayam.

Set for an August 22 release, Paradha not only explores a woman’s liberty and rights but also underscores Anupama’s determination at headlining and promoting a film like never before.
