Adivi Sesh has written to the Chief Justice of India and the Chief Minister of Delhi, urging a reversal of the recent directive for the mass confinement of street dogs across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Expressing concern for both legal and ethical dimensions, Sesh states, “As a citizen who believes in both the letter and spirit of the law, I am deeply concerned about the recent directive for mass confinement of street dogs in Delhi NCR. Such a measure not only contravenes our legal obligations but also goes against the compassionate values that India has always stood for.”

He emphasised that dogs that have been sterilised and vaccinated ought to remain in their own territories, in accordance with existing animal welfare laws. “Stray dogs are a part of our urban ecosystem. When sterilised and vaccinated, they are not a threat, they are community members who deserve dignity. Mass confinement is neither a sustainable solution nor a humane one,” he added.

Sesh then outlined alternative, tested strategies, “We have lawful, proven alternatives: sterilisation and vaccination drives, better waste management to cut uncontrolled food sources, empowering community caretakers, and enforcing strict penalties for cruelty and abandonment.”

Sesh’s intervention arrives as Delhi’s approach to managing urban stray animal populations has become a national talking point, with a growing consensus around aligning public safety efforts with legal norms and compassion.

On the work front, Adivi Sesh is preparing for the release of Dacoit, scheduled for December 25, and his Goodachari sequel G2, which has been announced for May 1, 2026.
