The makers of Anushka Shetty’s much-anticipated comeback vehicle Ghaati released their film’s trailer on Wednesday, also announcing the release date. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, Ghaati will hit theatres on September 5.

Presented by UV Creations, Ghaati is set against the rustic backdrop of rural Andhra Pradesh, telling the story of a tribal community who unwillingly become accomplice in a massive drug mafia nexus. Anushka portrays a bus conductor, who hopes to lead a simple life with her partner Raju (Vikram Prabhu), before she alongwith her community realises the dangerous situation they have been trapped in. The trailer then captures the protagonist’s violent resistance against the mafia, led by Anushka’s character whose vengeance is compared to the fury of mythological figure of Sita.

Ghaati also includes prominent names like Jagapathi Babu, Ravindra Vijay and Chaitanya Rao Madadi in the ensemble cast. Krish Jagarlamudi has also written the script, sharing ‘additional screenplay’ credits with D S Kannan and Ramana Salwa. Chintakindi Srinivas Rao has penned the story, while dialogues are by Sai Madhav Burra.

The film is produced under First Frame Entertainment, with Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi serving as producers. Sagar Nagavelli is the music director. In the technical team, Thota Tharani is the art director and Manojh Reddy Katasani is the cinematography. Editing is co-helmed by Venkata Swamy Nakka and Chanakya Reddy Toorupu. Action choreography is by Ram Krishnan. Raju Sundaram, who is the choreographer, will also be seen in a guest appearance in the film.  As of now, Ghaati is the only major theatrical release that week.

Anushka Shetty was last seen in the rom-com Mrs Shetty Mr Polishetty which released in September 2023.
