Baahubali to have a large-scale international re-release this year

The SS Rajamouli directorial remained the highest-grossing Telugu film for over 7 years

Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), the second part of the iconic period action-drama franchise by SS Rajamouli, completed 8 years of its release on Monday. On the occasion, the film’s producer Shobu Yarlagadda announced that the team is planning a large-scale re-release for their film franchise.

Taking to his X page, Shobu Yarlagadda posted, “I am thrilled to inform you all that we are planning an Indian and international re-release of Baahubali in October this year.  It won't just be a re-release, it will be a year of celebration for our beloved fans!  Expect nostalgia, new reveals, and a few epic surprises along the way.”

Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty among many others in the lead cast, the two parts of the franchise were released in 2015 and 2017 respectively. While the first part grossed nearly 600 crores at the box office, the sequel broke all box office records, garnering approximately Rs 1800 crores globally. 

Baahubali: The Beginning was also the first Telugu film to win the National Award for Best Feature Film. The film was additionally the recipient for Best Special Effects. Meanwhile, Baahubali: The Conclusion, won 3 National awards two years later — Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Special Effects, and Best Stunt Choreographer.
