Kalki 2898 AD, the mytho-scifi adventure film directed by Nag Ashwin, released on May 9. Earlier, Variety reported that the makers are planning to release the film in Japan in early 2025. The production house is preparing to distribute the film with Twin, the distribution company owned by Kabata Keizo. The same distribution company released SS Rajamouli's RRR in 2023 in Japan. The makers also have plans to release the film in Russia and China. The film has an ensemble cast of Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, among others.

Kalki 2898 AD had a worldwide gross of $140 million, making it one of the highest grossing Indian films. The film was based in a dystopian future where technology is advanced, but all natural resources have eroded. It showed humanity surviving in a harsh world under the world’s ruling class, who live in ‘The Complex.’

Kalki 2898 AD is produced by Ashwini Dutt, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies. The film is gearing up for its much-anticipated sequel. The makers also have more plans to expand the mytho-scifi universe.
