The makers of Matka released their official trailer at a grand ceremony on Saturday. The event was attended by the primary cast and crew of the film.

Written and directed by Karuna Kumar, Matka tells the story of Vasu, an underprivileged man who works his way up in the world of crime, eventually becoming a feared Matka overlord. The trailer boasts several impressive dialogues that describe the might and fierceness of the protagonist, comparing him to a circus ringmaster at one point who can make everyone dance to his tunes. The story traverses over a period of 24 years where Varun Tej can be seen sporting varied looks to match the character.

Meenaakshi Chaudhary plays the female lead in Matka, essaying the character of Vasu’s wife. The supporting cast also includes Naveen Chandra, Ajay Ghosh, Nora Fatehi, and Kannada Kishore. GV Prakash Kumar, who recently composed for another period drama, Lucky Baskhar, is the music director for Matka. The cinematography for the period crime drama is by by A Kishor Kumar. 

Karuna Kumar has earlier made acclaimed films like Palasa 1978 and Sridevi Soda Center. 

Produced by Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri, Matka is slated for a theatrical release on November 14.
