The makers of DNS, Sekhar Kammula's upcoming film starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna, announced on Friday that Jim Sarbh will be joining the film's cast. The announcement was made with a poster which features the actor's photo atop a typewriter, while a pen rests next to it. The sepia-tinted poster also displays visuals of a crane and other construction materials. Jim Sarbh, who made his debut with Shuruaat ka Interval (2014), earned a niche for himself in the Hindi film industry over the last decade with his acting chops. Some of Jim's notable appearances include Neerja (2016), A Death in the Gunj (2017), Padmavat (2018), Photograph (2019) and Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). He is also known for his work in the OTT series Made In Heaven and Rocket Boys.

DNS, an abbreviation of Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Sekhar (Kammula), also serves as the film's tentative title. DNS also stars Rashmika Mandanna. It is the first time Nagarjuna and Dhanush and Dhanush and Rashmika are working with each other. Rashmika and Nagarjuna have previously worked together in the Sriram Adittya film Devadas (2018).

DNS is produced by Suneil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, alongside Sekhar's home banner Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd.  The former production house has also been associated with Sekhar Kammula for his last film Love Story (2021). Niketh Bommi is the cinematographer of DNS, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
