We had previously announced that director Sekhar Kammula will be directing his next film with the actors Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. The makers of the film have announced on Thursday that they have launched the film with a pooja ceremony and commenced principal production.
The film, whose title has not been revealed yet, will be tentatively referred to as #DNS, an abbreviation for its actors Dhanush and Nagarjuna and the filmmaker Sekhar. After shooting two back-to-back romantic entertainers, Fidaa (2017) and Love Story (2021), Sekhar Kammula will be exploring a hitherto unexplored space with DNS, which will be mounted on a massive budget. DNS is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banner Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, alongside Sekhar Kammula's home banner Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd. Sonali Narang is the film's presenter.
Dhanush and Nagarjuna were last seen in Captain Miller and Naa Saami Ranga respectively. Both films hit theatres this month during the Sankranti/Pongal festival window. Captain Miller, which was released worldwide on January 12, will be hitting theatres in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on January 25, in a Telugu dubbed version. Rashmika Mandanna, whose last film Animal made a splash at the box office, will be seen next in Rainbow, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual opposite Shaakuntalam-fame actor Dev Mohan, The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran and Pushpa: The Rule, the sequel of the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise.
The makers will be announcing the rest of the cast and crew soon. Niketh Bommi, who has worked as the cinematographer for films like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi (2018), Soorarai Pottru (2020) and Ante Sundaraniki (2022), is the DOP of DNS. Ramakrishna Sabbani and Monika Nigotre are the film's production designers.
