The Sivakarthikeyan starrer Ayalaan, which hit the theatres worldwide on January 12 in Tamil, will be getting a Telugu release in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on January 26.  Captain Miller, starring Dhanush and Shivarajkumar, which also released for Pongal this year, will be released in Telugu a day earlier, on January 25.

Ayalaan means Alien in Tamil. The project, which was announced in 2018, is a VFX-heavy sci-fi comedy that revolves around the friendship between the film's protagonist, played by Sivakarthikeyan and an alien. Ayalaan also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Isha Koppikar, Sharad Kelkar, Bhanupriya, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran and Bala Saravanan. The film is written and directed by R Ravikumar.

Ayalaan is produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh under the banner KJR Studios in association with Phantom FX Studios and Aadhi Brahma Productions. Commenting on the film's Telugu release, Rajesh says, "Our team has not compromised anywhere in terms of quality to provide the Hollywood experience to Indian audience. With a lot of VFX shots, the work took about two years to complete. After seeing the reception of the Tamil audience, we forgot our hardships. AR Rahman's songs and background music are the film's special attraction." Ayalaan joins Varun Doctor (Doctor) and Mahaveerudu (Maveeran) in the list of Sivakarthikeyan's Tamil films finding a theatrical release in the Telugu markets. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer of Ayalaan, with editing by Reuben and production design by T Muthuraj.
