We had reported earlier this week about veteran actor Mohan Babu being booked for attacking a TV journalist earlier this week, which led to the latter sustaining critical injuries. On Saturday, the actor issued a statement, offering a few clarifications about the case.

Taking to his X page, Mohan Babu penned, “False propaganda is being circulated! Anticipatory bail has not been rejected and currently I am under medical care in my home. I request the media to get the facts right.” It is to be noted that for the past few days, rumours had been doing the rounds about Hyderabad police planning to arrest Mohan Babu, and the actor absconding from the city.

The said attack occurred at Mohan Babu’s residence on December 10, after a bunch of TV journalists, among others, barged into the actor’s residence to question him about his ongoing dispute with his younger son Manchu Manoj. Mohan Babu lost his temper, grabbed a mike from one of the TV journalists and hit him multiple times. Based on a complaint from the victim, an FIR was registered by the Pahadishareef police station under Section 118(1) (Voluntarily causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

On Friday, Mohan Babu had officially stated his regret for his actions.
