Padma Kasturirangan has been promoted as Head of South, India Originals, Prime Video

Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios announced on Friday that Padma Kasturirangan has been promoted as Head of South, India Originals. The streamer is said to be focusing on producing more original content in South. 

After finishing her film course at New York University, Padma started her career in Hyderabad with Annapurna Film School and soon moved to head the long form wing at Tamada Media, where she helmed and created several IPs and regional originals. She also had a short stint at Zee5 heading the Telugu originals slate before moving on to Amazon Prime Video. She joined Prime Video two years ago and since then has been busy collaborating with some of the best creators to build an exciting Telugu slate. 

At Prime Video, she has developed an entire slate of shows and movies that are about to launch in the near future and has created recent shows like The Rana Daggubati show, Dhootha.

Padma took to her LinkedIn and wrote, “With a super thrilling line-up planned for the near future, I look forward to scaling up our Originals program in Tamil and Telugu, bringing bar-raising stories to engage and delight our audiences, in this expanded role. Nurturing new markets and building a diverse, wholesome content slate has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey at Prime Video. I’m thrilled about what lies ahead for the markets in South India and am eager to develop more compelling stories and unforgettable characters.”
