Varun Tej, who recently headlined the period crime drama Matka, is working with filmmaker Merlapaka Gandhi for his next project. The film is reportedly being jointly bankrolled by UV Creations and First Frame Entertainment. 

The pre-production for the film has begun, and the makers are planning to commence shooting in March next year. More details about the film, like the primary cast and crew, are yet to be announced though. Reportedly, the film will be a thriller, with 40 per cent of the shooting to be done in Korea.

Melapaka Gandhi has previously made films like Venkatadri Express (2013) and Express Raja (2016). His last directorial, Like, Share and Subscribe, starring Santosh Shoban and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles, released in 2022.
