Chiranjeevi’s 2002 film Indra recently released again in theatres and had a tremendous response from the audience. A few days after the film’s re-release, its primary team—Chiranjeevi, director B Gopal, and producer Ashwini Dutt, among others—sat down for a chat revisiting the landmark film. On the occasion, Chiranjeevi noted how Indra also paved the way for South films in the Hindi belt.

In a video officially released by Vyjayanthi Movies, the production banner of Indra, Chiranjeevi said, “Indra was the film that opened the gates for our South Indian cinema in Hindi market after it released as Indra - The Tiger in Hindi. Soon after, the Hindi belts became a source of extra income for our movies, and Indra paved the way for that.” 

On day 1 of its re-release, Indra reportedly grossed over Rs 3 crore at the box office worldwide. Besides Chiranjeevi, the action-drama starred Sonali Bendra, Aarthi Aggrawal, and Mukesh Rishi in prominent roles. The film even featured HanuMan actor Teja Sajja in a small role as the younger version of Chiranjeevi's character.
