We had earlier reported that Shah Rukh Khan will return to voice Mufasa in the much-awaited live-action movie Mufasa: The Lion King. Now the makers have confirmed that for the Telugu version, Mahesh Babu will be providing the voiceover for the titular role.

Talking about his association with the franchise, the Guntur Kaaram actor said, “I have always admired Disney’s blockbuster legacy of entertainment and timeless storytelling. The character of Mufasa appeals to me not only as a loving father guiding his son but as the supreme king of the jungle taking care of his clan. My family means everything to me, and this collaboration with Disney is personally very special, as it is an experience I will cherish with my children!”

Besides Mahesh Babu, the Telugu version of Mufasa: The Lion King will also feature the voices of Brahmanandam and Ali, who return as Pumbaa and Timon, respectively. Meanwhile, the English voiceover cast for the film includes names like Aaron Pierre, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, Mads Mikkelsen, Seth Rogen, and Donald Glover, among many others. Lin-Manuel Miranda has composed the original films for the film.

Directed by Barry Jankins, Mufasa: The Lion King will be released in Indian theatres on December 20, 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The telugu trailer for the film will be released on Monday, August 26.
