The film is set in a futuristic universe (2122 AD) where the Indian government has managed to create a team of Indian Super Soldiers with the help of robotics technology. However, a world war breaks out in the present world, which then compels one of the super soldiers, Indrani, to time-travel and save the nation. Indrani promises to be a high-concept superhero film that offers a blend of science-fiction and patriotism. The film also stars Ankita, Kabir Singh, Ajay, Saptagiri, Shataf Figur, Garima, Franiata, Rishika, Sunaina, and Tanushree.

Yaaneea Bharadwaj's previous titles include Chhorii and the Prime Video series Made in Heaven. Yaaneea is also set to appear in the upcoming series Gulkanda Tales, directed by Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve.

Indrani has long been in the making. The film was announced in 2021, alongside the release of a poster for its titular character.
