Skanda, the Boyapati Sreenu directorial which released on Thursday, and starring Ram Pothineni in the lead role, has collected Rs 8.62 crore on day one of its release, the makers announced.

The film is produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi under the banner Srinivasaa Silver Screens, while it is presented by Pawan Kumar and Zee Studios South. The film stars Sreeleela as the female lead, with Saiee Manjrekar appearing in a crucial role.

Skanda, also titled as Skanda-The Attacker, is Ram's first collaboration with Boyapati Sreenu, who is known for his unique brand of hypermasculine, old-fashioned action entertainers with strong themes of family, saviourship and retribution.

“The reasons why Skanda isn't the unhinged masala entertainer it could have been are plenty. The pacing and the energy of the film's action sequences is the primary culprit,” reads CE review of the film.

Santosh Detake is the cinematographer of the film and edited by Tammiraju. Thaman is the music director of Skanda.
