The Telugu version of the Hindi film 12th Fail, which hit theatres on October 27th, will be releasing on November 3. 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey, is written and directed by veteran writer, producer and director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Vinod's last film was Shikhara, which came out in 2020.
Based on a book written by Anurag Pathak, 12th Fail chronicles the life of real-life IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. Hailing from the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh, Manoj has gone on to clear the prestigious UPSC exam on his fourth attempt with an All India Rank 121. The film is also concurrently inspired by the journeys of countless individuals who prepare for the Civil Services exam out of New Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, the hub of UPSC coaching centres. Medha Shankar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sanjay Bishnoi and Harish Khanna co-star in the film.
12th Fail was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Yogesh Ishwar. The director has also edited the film alongside Jaskunwar Kohli, while the cinematography was handled by Rangarajan Ramabadran. Vinod Chopra's frequent collaborator Shantanu Moitra has composed the music for the film. 12th Fail received positive reviews from critics as well as the audience.
