The makers of Extra announced on Monday that they will be unveiling the teaser of their film on October 30. This announcement came with a poster of their lead actor Nithiin in three different looks. The film, also starring Sreeleela is scheduled to hit theatres on December 8.

Extra is written and directed by screenwriter turned filmmaker Vakkantham Vamsi. Vamsi has previously directed the 2018 action entertainer Na Peru Surya, Na Illu India, which starred Allu Arjun and Anu Emmanuel in the lead roles. Extra is billed as a character-driven story set in the film industry. 

Extra is produced by Sudhakar Reddy and Nikitha Reddy under the banner Shreshth Movies, in association with Aditya Movies and Entertainments.

Harris Jayaraj is the music director of the film, while its cinematography was jointly handled by Arthur A Wilson, H Yuvaraaj and Sai Sriram. Prawin Pudi is the film's editor, while its art direction was done by Sahi Suresh. Nithiin was last seen in the 2022 film Macherla Niyojakavargam opposite Krithi Shetty.
