Vignesh Shivan calls Jigarthanda Double X as "stunning piece of art"

Set in Madurai, the film features Raghava Lawrence as a gangster and SJ Suryah as a filmmaker

Jigarthanda Double X which released for Diwali, has been receiving good reviews upon its release last week. With many appreciating the film, the latest to join is director Vignesh Shivan.

Taking to X, Vignesh praised the film as a “stunning piece of art” by Karthik Subbaraj. “The finesse in his film making has peaked in Jigarthanda double X ! The conviction in writing, the efforts in the execution with a genius Cinematographer in Thiru sir ! What they have pulled off is highly appreciable and is going to stand the test of time,” he added.

Set in Madurai, the film features Raghava Lawrence as a gangster and SJ Suryah as an aspiring policeman posed as a filmmaker. Speaking about Raghava’s performance, Vignesh called it his “best work till date” and said Suryah in a “very different space has enjoyed and performed another memorable character written for him”.

He also appreciated Santhosh Narayanan’s music.
