Team RRR condoles death of Ray Stevenson

Ray portrayed the role of British higher official General Scott Buxton

Hollywood actor Ray Stevenson, who was last seen playing General Scott Buxton, the antagonist of SS Rajamouli’s globally acclaimed film  RRR has breathed his last on Sunday in Italy while shooting a film. Condoling his death, SS Rajamouli who directed RRR, took to social media to pay his respects to the late actor.

“Shocking... Just can't believe this news. Working with him was pure joy. My prayers are with his family. May his soul rest in peace,” Rajamouli wrote. He also added that Ray brought in much energy and vibrancy along with him to the sets. “It was infectious,” he said.

Ray served as the primary antagonist in RRR. He was 58 at the time of his death.

Actor Junior NTR who played one of the leads in RRR also paid his respects. “Shocked to hear about Ray Stevenson's passing. Gone too soon. It was a great experience working with him. May his soul rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and dear ones during this difficult time,” he wrote on Twitter.

The official Twitter handle of the film also shared how the late actor performed stunt sequences despite his age. Sharing a behind-the-scene still of Ray performing a stunt, the handle praised his abilities. “He was 56 years old when we were shooting this difficult scene but he did not hesitate while performing this stunt. We will forever cherish having you on the sets of #RRR, Ray Stevenson. Gone too soon.”

Ray is survived by his partner, anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia and their two sons, Sebastian Derek and Leonardo George Stevenson. He was formerly married to actress Ruth Gemmell. He will be seen next, posthumously, in Ahsoka, a Disney + Hotstar Original Star Wars series, along with the films Cassino In Ischia and 1242: Gateaway to the West.
