AR Rahman: I want Naatu Naatu to win awards

Indians are excited and high in spirit for the upcoming Oscars after RRR's Naatu Naatu secured the nomination for the 95th Academy Awards under the Best Music (original song) category. Ahead of the award show, AR Rahman, in a recent interview with ANI said that he wants Naatu Naatu to win awards. 

In the interview, he is seen saying, "I want Naatu Naatu to win awards, I wanted them to win the Grammy also because any award for any of us will lift India up and the concentration of our culture will become higher." 

The song, composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by Chandrabose, won the Golden Globe awards earlier this year, becoming the first Asian song to achieve the feat and added another feather to its cap by fetching an Oscar nomination.

Naatu Naatu will be competing with 'Applause' from Tell It like a Woman, 'Hold My Hand' from Top Gun: Maverick, 'Lift Me Up' from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and 'This is a Life' from Everything Everywhere All at Once in the Best Original Song category at the Oscars. 

In addition to Naatu NaatuThe Elephant Whisperers has made it to the top 5 of the Best Documentary Short and Shaunak Sen's All That Breathes has been nominated in the Best Documentary Feature Film category.
