Teaser of Virupaksha unveiled

Abhilasha Cherukuri

The teaser of Virupaksha, which stars Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha in lead roles, was unveiled on Thursday evening. The teaser, which was originally scheduled to release a day earlier, on Wednesday, was postponed to pay respects for Ravi Pandu, president of the Sai Dharam Tej fans association in Bhimavaram.

Virupaksha is written and directed by Karthik Dandu, who has earlier directed Bham Bholenath (2015) and Jawaan (2017). Acclaimed writer-filmmaker Sukumar has penned the screenplay for the film, in addition to producing it. The film, which faced a lot of delays, due to extensive VFX work, is now scheduled for an April 21 release.

The teaser, running for one minute and twenty nine seconds, shows us that the story is set in a village with certain supernatural problems, with Sai Dharam Tej rising and rallying people to save the village. The teaser displays elements of mysticism and black magic, which are further augmented by a distinctively dark and atmospheric visual palette.

Virupaksha, also starring Brahmaji, Rajeev Kanakala and Sai Chand in prominent roles, is jointly produced by Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra (SVCC) and Sukumar Writings. These two banners are collaborating together for the first time.

Kannada music director B Ajaneesh Lokanath is composing the music for Virupaksha, with Shamdat Sainudeen providing cinematography and Naveen Nooli roped in as the editor of the film. Interestingly, BVSN Prasad and Sukumar, the men behind SVCC and Sukumar Writings have also recently announced their second project together, featuring Siddhu Jonnalagadda in the lead role.
