Dhanush is set to act in his second Telugu film. Sree Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP, the producers of D51 have taken to social media to announce on Thursday evening that their project with Dhanush and director Sekhar Kammula, is finally taking off. The film will be a pan-India project, with releases in five different languages.
Murmurs of this project have first been heard when Sekhar was promoting Love Story, his last directorial, in late 2021. The director has also spoken in interviews back then, about how he narrated the story to Dhanush on zoom during the pandemic and how the latter expressed a keen interest in the same. While the official announcement only mentions the names of the actor, the director and the producers Suneil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, there were also speculations two years ago about how Sai Pallavi will also be featuring in this film, as a female lead.
Sai Pallavi has previously worked twice with Sekhar, in Fidaa (2017), her Telugu debut as well as in Love Story, opposite Naga Chaitanya. On the other hand, Sai has also worked once with Dhanush previously in Maari 2.
Dhanush made his Telugu debut early this year with Venky Atluri's Sir, which has also released simultaneously in Tamil as Vaathi. He will be seen next in the Arun Matheswaran directorial Captain Miller, in addition to reuniting with Aanand L Rai for the third time round in the Bollywood film Tere Ishq Mein. The actor is also gearing up for his next starrer D50, which is also coincidentally his sophomore project as a director after the 2017 film Pa Paandi.
