Actor Rakesh Varre, who has acted in films like Baahubali and Evarikee Cheppodu, has announced his next project, namely, Pekamedalu.

Like Evarikee Cheppodu, which was also produced by Rakesh under his home banner Crazy Ants Productions, Pekamedalu will also be produced by him. But, unlike Evarikee Cheppodu, Rakesh will not be starring in Pekamedalu. Evariki Cheppodu, which came out in 2019, starred Rakesh alongside Gargeyi Yellapragada. The film, a love story that turns into a comedy of errors due to inter-caste differences coming in way of the couple getting married, received acclaim post its release once it started streaming on OTT. 

The film stars Vinooth Krishnan, who has earlier acted in films like Naa Peru Shiva and Andhagaaram. The first look of Pekamedalu features Vinooth hanging on a pole as the skyline of Hyderabad is visible from a 360° angle. Anoosha Krishna is the female lead of the film. Along with the cast, the makers of Pekamedalu have also announced that 50 new actors will be featuring in the film. 

Pekamedalu is written and directed by debutant Neelagiri Mamilla. Smaran is the music director of the film, with cinematography by Haricharan K, editing by Srujana Adusumilli and production design by Kranthi Priyam. The film will be releasing this August. The makers plan to release the teaser soon.
