Continuing the streak of firsts and other unprecedented displays of attention for an Indian filmmaker, SS Rajamouli makes an appearance at the New York-based late night talk show, Late Night with Seth Meyers. The video of their interaction was released on YouTube on Tuesday evening.

After expressing admiration at SS Rajamouli's 2022 directorial RRR, which has been shortlisted for the Oscars and the Golden Globes - Meyers then proceeded to ask Rajamouli questions, ranging from fan culture in India to the journey of RRR as a global blockbuster. Rajamouli then went on to regale Meyers with anecdotes on how fans in India, notably his home base in the Telugu states, tear up pieces of newspaper as confetti and throw it at the sight of their favourite actors on screen. He also spoke at length about how RRR was initially a working title of the film, which was then changed into the title of the film after receiving massive love from fans and distributors alike.

The Academy Awards will be happening on March 12, while the Golden Globes will take place on January 11, at 6:30 p.m. IST.
