The much-hyped film Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, was released in theatres on December 22. The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, earned Rs 178.7 crores on its first day of release, breaking the record of other significant Indian films, including  Animal, Pathaan, Jawan, Leo, Jailer, and Master. This makes it the only Indian film to achieve this feat.

Within three days of its release, the film has grossed Rs 402 crores at the global box office.

Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire opened to positive reception upon its release. The CE review of the film read, "In KGF, we saw Rocky Bhai first and Yash later. In Salaar, we know it is a Prabhas vehicle, and unlike the past couple of films, the actor looks comfortable in the front. But make no mistake, it is Prashanth who firmly plonks himself in the driver's seat, manoeuvering Salaar through cliches, familiarity, and bloody violence to give a first part that wonderfully sets up the second."

The film, produced by Hombale Films, also stars Shruti Haasan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, Jagapathi Babu, Madhu Guruswamy, Ramachandra Raju, Garuda Ram, and Tinnu Anand, among others.

Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire is a Kannada-Telugu bilingual, with simultaneous releases in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam as well. Ravi Basrur composed the film's music, with cinematography by Bhuvan Gowda, editing by Ujwal Kulkarni and production design by Shivakumar and TL Venkatachalapathi.
