Fans of Rajamouli's RRR, who were disheartened to learn that the film is not India's official selection for the Academy Awards 2023, can now breathe a huge sigh of relief. The makers of the film are now pushing the film with the 'For your consideration' campaigns in all categories.
Apart from Best Motion Picture, Director (SS Rajamouli), Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt) and Vest Original Song (Naatu Naatu), the other categories also include Best Original Score, Film Editing, Sound, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup & Hairstyling, and Visual Effects.
When Chhello Show (Last Film Show) was announced as India's official entry for Oscars 2023, it was speculated that the makers of RRR will campaign for the awards independently and their FYC campaign will be the first step towards a shot at winning the Academy Awards.
Written by V Vijayendra Prasad and produced by DVV Danayya of DVV Entertainment, RRR stars an ensemble cast that includes Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris. Made on a budget of ₹550 crore, RRR earned ₹240 crore on day one, breaking the record for the highest opening-day collection earned by an Indian film. The film, which has grossed more than ₹1000 crore, was recently showcased at TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. Interestingly, RRR is nominated in three categories at the 47th Saturn Awards including Best Action/Adventure Film, Best International Film, and Best Director.
