The news about the demise of veteran superstar Krishna put a pall of gloom on Tuesday, and fans and celebrities alike are sharing their condolences about the news.

Krishna, a veteran of over 350 films, is also the father of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu.

Expressing his grief, actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan wrote, "An icon of Telugu cinema Krishna gaaru is no more, an era ends with his demise. I wish to share the grief of brother Mahesh Babu who has to bear this third emotional trauma of losing a mother, brother, and now his father. My deepest condolence dear Mahesh gaaru."

Acknowledging the back-to-back jolts that have come to Mahesh Babu and his family because of the demise of his mother (in September) and elder brother (in January), actor Suriya took to his social media accounts, and wrote, "Our prayers and respects to Krishna garu, sending lots of love and strength to Mahesh Babu and family. It’s been a tough year for you brother.. We are with you!"

Krishna was admitted to the hospital following a cardiac arrest on Monday, and died due to multi-organ failure on Tuesday at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 79.  He is survived by his children Manjula, Padmavathi, Priyadarshini, and actor Mahesh Babu.
