'Only straight Telugu films should be given preference during festivals'

CE Features

Ahead of the release of Varasadu (Varisu) and Thunivu, Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) held an emergency meeting on November 8 and passed a resolution that only straight Telugu films should be given preference during Sankranthi and Dussera festivals.

In a press note released today, the guild stated that producer Dil Raju voiced the same in 2019. When his production venture F2 was slated to release in 2019 along with Vinaya Vidheya Rama, NTR: Kathanayakudu and Rajinikanth's Petta, the producer spoke about the need to encourage and give preference to Telugu films.

Incidentally, Varasudu is being bankrolled by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateshwara Creations. In the press note, TFPC requested exhibitors in the Telugu state to stick to this decision--to prioritise straight Telugu films and allocate the remaining screens to dubbed films.

Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, is billed family entertainer while H Vinoth's Thunivu is expected to be an actioner.
