RRR Day 1 global collections beat Baahubali 2 record

CE Features

RRR has collected Rs 223 crore on day 1 at the box office, revealed the makers. This beats the record set by Baahubali 2 on day 1 and the domestic collection has also set a record. The film starring Ram Charan, and Jr NTR in the lead roles is helmed by SS Rajamouli. In comparison, the director's previous film, Baahubali 2, which happens to be one of India's top-grossing films, had collected Rs 217 crore on its day 1 at the box office.

RRR is set in the pre-independence era, and the plot is based on a 'what if?' scenario. What if Komaram Bheema and Alluri Sitarama Raju had met during the freedom struggle and fought side by side?

This scenario is envisioned by the director on a grand scale with great support from KV Vijayendra Prasad on the story. The music for RRR has been scored MM Keeravani. Other than Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the film stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.

RRR was released on March 25 to a great response from the audience, and the film is expected to hold strong at the box office at its first weekend.
