CE Features

Days before the release of SS Rajamouli's directorial RRR, fans in Karnataka have expressed anger regarding the number of shows in Kannada. Fans of the Jr NTR, Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt-starrer took to Twitter to express their frustration at this development with the Twitter hashtag #BoycottRRRinKarnataka. Following wide criticism, the distributors -- KVN Productions -- have released a statement.

The distributors said, "We will do everything in our control to bring the Kannada version in as many screens by tomorrow."

As of now, Bookmyshow reflects only four shows in two theaters in Kannada, in Bengaluru. In comparison, the Tamil-dubbed version has more than 10 shows, including a special show at 4.30 am, at Swagath theater in JC Road. The Hindi version, as of now, seems to be running in just one theater with three shows on the first day. As expected, the film has the most number of shows in its native language -- Telugu.

At a pre-release event held in Bengaluru, the distributor of RRR Venkat Konanki in Karnataka had said, "We are looking at 450 screens for RRR including multiplexes and 2,000 plus shows in Karnataka. KVN Production is happy to present one of the biggest films, RRR in Karnataka on March 25. Priority will be given to the Kannada version given the fact that lead actors of RRR have dubbed themselves in Kannada as well. It ensures the emotions are intact."

The film also stars Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles. With music by MM Keeravani, the story of RRR is by KV Vijayendra Prasad. The film will make it to the big screens on March 25.
