Pa Ranjith praises Sai Pallavi-Rana's Virata Parvam

"'Virata Parvam is the best Telugu film I've seen in recent years," he tweeted

Tamil filmmaker Pa Ranjith took to Twitter on Sunday to appreciate the recently released Telugu film, Virata Parvam, starring Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati in lead roles.

"'Virata Parvam is the best Telugu film I've seen in recent years," he tweeted. "Producers and director Venu Udugula deserve much appreciation for making this film without any compromises. Special appreciation to Rana Daggubati for accepting to perform in this role. And Sai Pallavi has done superbly," Ranjith added.

Based on real incidents that happened in the '90s in Telangana, the film tells the story of Vennela (Sai Pallavi), who falls in love with a Naxal leader named Ravanna (Rana) after getting inspired by his writings. The film follows her pursuit to meet him and how her life dramatically changes once she gets close to him.

The film released last Friday and was met with positive critical reception. It has music by Suresh Bobbili and cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez and Divakar Mani.
