Ajith's upcoming film Thunivu has been titled Thegimpu in Telugu, ahead of the film's release for Pongal. Interestingly, the actor's previous film, Valimai, didn't have a separate Telugu title and was released under the same title, despite being a Tamil word.

Thunivu is directed by H Vinoth, marking the filmmaker's third collaboration with the actor after Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai, which was released in February this year. Billed as an action drama centered on bank heists, Thunivu features Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken and Veera in supporting roles.

With music by Ghibran, two tracks from the film, 'Chilla Chilla' and 'Kasethan Kadavulada' have been released so far. Although the makers are yet to announce the release date officially, it is being speculated that the film will release on January 12, clashing with Vijay's Varisu at the box office.

Post Thunivu, Ajith will join forces with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan for a project.
