Dulquer Salman’s upcoming Telugu film Sita Ramam is reportedly facing a ban in Gulf countries. The list of countries that have reviewed the film and deemed it unfit for their audience includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE.

The makers of the film have reportedly appealed for reconsideration and are awaiting a response. Although the exact reason for the ban is yet to be officially revealed, sources state that the ban is due to the movie allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Dulquer Salman’s recently released Kurup also faced a similar ban in Kuwait. The ban comes as a shock to his fans as the actor is known to have a sizable fan following in the gulf countries.

This is Dulquer’s sophomore attempt in the Telugu film industry after the critically acclaimed Mahanati in 2018, which stars Keerthy Suresh in the lead.

Sita Ramam also stars  Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, Sumanth, Tharun Bhascker, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Bhumika Chawla in supporting roles. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, the film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. Vishal Chandrasekhar is composing music for the film.

Described as a romance drama, the film is scheduled to release on 5 August 2022.
