Vishwak Sen is gearing up for the release of his latest venture, Mechanic Rocky. Scheduled to hit theatres on November 22, the film is written and directed by Ravi Teja Mullapudi and promises to be an action-packed entertainer with a fresh narrative. Starring Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath alongside Vishwak, the film is backed by SRT Entertainments under the production of Ram Talluri. Speaking about the film’s premise, Vishwak revealed that Mechanic Rocky is inspired by real-life incidents and addresses a socially relevant issue that has surfaced over the past four to five years. “The film touches on a burning issue, but we haven’t revealed what it is yet. Audiences will be surprised and might even wonder why no one has discussed this topic in films before. But it’s not a message-oriented movie. There’s a message within the story for those who seek it,” he explained.
The actor is confident in the film’s ability to keep viewers engaged. “The second half will give you an adrenaline rush. It’s going to be entertaining, and the narrative keeps shifting genres. You won’t be able to guess where it’s heading. Even if you get a phone call, you’ll probably cut it off and continue watching,” he promised.
Vishwak credited director Ravi Teja Mullapudi for the film’s intricate screenplay. “He’s a smart fellow who has written a brilliant script. Once the film is out, people will appreciate his writing. Every character, including Shraddha, Sunil, Raghu, and Naresh, plays an equally significant role in the story.”
The actor also praised Jakes Bejoy’s contribution to the project, describing the background score as “fire” while expressing admiration for the music director’s work. However, Vishwak was quick to clarify the film’s appeal. “This isn’t a typical mass film; I call it a ‘metro mass’ film because it will resonate more with urban youth. They’ll connect deeply with it.”
Vishwak recently made headlines for a strong statement directed at online reviewers. Clarifying his remarks, he stated, “I didn’t mean critics; I was referring to anonymous people on the internet who post baseless and wild reviews. When I said ‘break your back,’ it was a domestic phrase, not a cuss word. I’m an unfiltered person, and I’ve been like this throughout my seven-year career.”
Discussing his collaboration with producer Ram Talluri, Vishwak expressed gratitude for the latter’s patience and trust. “We knew we wanted to work together but were waiting for the right project. Ram garu sent me three scripts—one I didn’t like, another didn’t suit me, but Mechanic Rocky was gold,” he said.
Juggling two films, Mechanic Rocky and Gangs of Godavari, was no easy task for Vishwak. “It was tough initially. The first two hours on set would be challenging as I’d carry over the essence of one character into the other. But over time, I managed to make them distinct,” he shared. Adding to the challenge was the need to switch between Telangana and Godavari dialects, as well as maintaining different looks for both films. “There were waiting periods to accommodate these transitions, and Ram Talluri garu was incredibly supportive throughout.”
Vishwak’s slate of upcoming projects is packed. “Laila is 60 per cent complete, and we aim to finish it by December. Another film with Sudhakar will start in December, followed by one with Anudeep KV in January. In March, we’ll begin CULT, a film I’m producing. I’m also planning a project with Saagar Chandra of Bheemla Nayak fame,” he shared.
The actor also expressed his preference for working with debut or young filmmakers. “I want to be like Rajinikanth for my directors. They should feel excited to showcase me in the best possible way,” he quipped.
He also gave an update about the much-anticipated Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi 2. Speaking about the sequel to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, he said “The writing is underway, and it will go on floors next year."
Mechanic Rocky is billed as an action entertainer with a triangular love story at its heart. In addition to Vishwak, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Shraddha Srinath, the film's ensemble cast features Hyper Aadi, Harsha Vardhan, Viva Harsha, and Raghuram. The action thriller has cinematography by Manoj Reddy and editing by Anwar Ali.
The film’s release is coming with the Satyadev starrer Zebra, setting up an exciting box-office clash. About the clash, Vishwak concludes saying, “Any film that resonates with a large audience becomes a commercial success. We’re confident Mechanic Rocky will do just that.”
