The trailer launch event of Karthi-starrer Sardar was held on Friday in Chennai. From the trailer, the film looks like a racy, action-packed thriller. Karthi appears in a dual role in the trailer, one as an attention-seeking cop named Vijay Prakash and a spy, who goes by the name Sardar. The latter is introduced as a master of disguises in the trailer. Rajisha Vijayan, Raashi Khanna, Laila, and Chunky Panday play prominent roles in the film.

Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar, is set to hit the screens this Deepavali. The film recently got censored with U/A and is set to hit screens on October 21. It will clash with Sivakarthikeyan's Prince at the box office. Sardar is also set to be released in Telugu and will be presented by Annapurna Studios.

Backed by Prince Pictures, Sardar marks Karthi's third film with GV Prakash after Aayirathil Oruvan and Saguni. Mithran's frequent collaborator George C Williams is in charge of Sardar's cinematography.
