The trailer of Agent Kannayiram, the upcoming Tamil film starring Santhanam in the lead role, was released by the makers on social media on Friday.

The trailer opens with an advertisement-like voiceover introducing Agent Kannayiram, a novice detective played by Santhanam. As the trailer promises a quirky and fun film, Agent Kannayiram is the remake of Telugu blockbuster Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya.

The original featured Naveen Polishetty and Shruti Sharma as the leads.  Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya follows the life of a rookie detective who begins to probe the case of an abandoned dead body near a railway track and the danger the sleuth runs into during the investigation.

Directed by Manoj Beedha, who helmed Vanjagar Ulagam, the film also stars Riya Suman, Sruthi Hariharan, Cooku With Comali-fame Pugazh, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, E Ramadoss, Aruvi Madhan, Aadhira, and others. Guru Somasundaram will also be making a cameo appearance in it.

Agent Kannayiram has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is produced by Labrynth Films, who also backed Manoj.
