Messenger Movie Review:

Directed by Ramesh Elangamani, Messenger stars Sriram Karthick, Manisha Sri, Vaishali Ravichandran, Jeeva Ravi, Livingston, and Priyadarshini in pivotal roles.

The story revolves around a heartbroken young man, played by Sriram Karthick, who, in a moment of despair, decides to end his life. Just then, he receives a message on Facebook Messenger that says, “There are people in this world who truly love you, please don’t give up on life.” The unexpected message changes his mind and stops him from taking the drastic step.

Cast: Sriram Karthick, Manisha Sri, Vaishali Ravichandran, Jeeva Ravi, Livingston, and Priyadarshini

Director: Ramesh Elangamani

Curious to find out who sent it, he embarks on a search — only to encounter one twist after another. The film unfolds with emotional turns, ending on a note that reveals the mystery behind the message.

Sriram Karthick, known for his innocent role in Kannimadam, delivers a determined performance here, proving his growth as an actor. Manisha Sri as the female lead, along with Vaishali Ravichandran, Jeeva Ravi, Livingston, and Priyadarshini, all lend solid support and stay true to their characters.

Tamil cinema has been exploring love stories in various shades almost every week. Messenger joins that list, attempting to present a familiar theme with a thoughtful twist. While the concept is refreshing, the screenplay could have used tighter pacing and a bit more engagement in several scenes to heighten the emotional impact.

Music by Abubakkar M stands out, especially the background score, which adds depth to the narrative.

In recent times, low-budget Tamil films have been making their mark through strong storytelling and sincere execution, even if recognition comes late. Messenger is one such sincere effort — a small film with a meaningful message and a commendable attempt at delivering hope through cinema.
