Actor Chaithra Achar, who stars in the recent release Meesaya Murukku 2 with Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, congratulated the team behind Dorothy. Appearing in a video post on social media, Chaithra also sang some lines from the popular track 'Kalyana Virundhu' from the film, directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
As the caption for the post, the actor wrote, "Reading amazing reviews about Dorothy. Congratulations to the whole team on the success." She also said that 'Kalyana Virundhu' has been on her mind for a while now. "Couldn’t stop humming this," she wrote while tagging composer Ilaiyaraaja and director Karthik Subbaraj. In the postscript, the actor asked the audience to excuse her mistakes in singing.
Speaking of mistakes, in a recent interview with Cinema Express regarding Meesaya Murukku 2, Chaithra Achar said that she did not know Tamil while working on 3BHK with Siddharth, and that she gradually picked up the language. The actor was conscious of correcting mistakes in her Tamil pronunciation during the interview, a video version of which is also available in our Cinema Express YouTube channel.
Dorothy and Meesaya Murukku 2 hit theatres at the same time last week. While Karthik Subbaraj's film has opened to positive reviews from critics, a section of the audience has responded contentiously to its treatment of an LGBTQ+ angle. Starring Sananth, Rishikanth, and Keerthy Suresh, the film has earned around 6 crore from theatres, according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. On the other hand, the tracker's data shows that Meesaya Murukku 2 has earned around 20 crore from theatres, despite earning mixed reviews from critics.
Coming back to Chaithra Achar, the actor told CE that she has "three exciting Tamil films with amazing directors" in her upcoming lineup.
