Production on Dharman, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, is progressing fast. Only about two weeks after announcing the commencement of the third production leg for the film, Ashwath revealed on Tuesday that the schedule has been wrapped. The filmmaker made the announcement with some behind-the-scenes pictures from the set featuring him with the cast and crew. Earlier this September, the team behind the film completed the second production schedule as well.
Meanwhile, Raashii Khanna removed her post featuring her with Rajinikanth and Ram Pothineni shortly after dropping the picture on social media. As a result, Ram Pothineni's involvement in the film remains an unconfirmed speculation.
Dharman marks the first collaboration between Ashwath Marimuthu and Rajinikanth. Earlier, Ashwath earned much appreciation and tasted commercial success for his previous two films. The filmmaker made his directorial debut with 2020's Oh My Kadavule, starring Ashok Selvan and Ritika Singh, which he remade in Telugu with the title Ori Devuda and starring Vishwak Sen and Mithila Palkar.
The director backed up the critical and commercial success of Oh My Kadavule with last year's Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju.
Recently, Kayadu Lohar, who also starred in Dragon, revealed that Rajinikanth asked her whether Ashwath is a great director.
Coming back to Dharman, the upcoming film is produced by Kamal Haasan under his Raaj Kamal Films International banner, alongside R Mahendran of Turmeric Media. Besides Rajinikanth and Raashii Khanna, the film also stars Simran and Yogi Babu. It marks Simran's second film with the Superstar; earlier, they shared screen space in 2019's Petta. Meanwhile, reports say that Rukmini Vasanth is also part of the film's cast, in addition to Ram Pothineni, although Raaj Kamal Films International is yet to confirm it.
The film's technical team includes composer Anirudh, cinematographer Niketh Bommi, editor Pradeep E Ragav, art director Karthik Rajkumar, and stunt choreographers Anbariv.
