On the eve of Dorothy's release, actor Dhanush took to social media to convey his praise for the film and director Karthik Subbaraj. Dorothy, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, has music by Ilaiyaraaja.

"Dorothy - a masterpiece from Karthik Subbaraj. Bold and poignant. Raw and intense. Every actor has performed brilliantly. Our maestro Ilayaraaja sir’s background score will blow your mind away. Rudhrathandavam (divine dance) from isaignani (Ilaiyaraaja). Best wishes to my dear friend Karthik Subbaraj and the entire team on the release tomorrow. God bless," wrote Dhanush.

Dhanush and Karthik Subbaraj worked together on Jagame Thandhiram.

With Keerthy Suresh as the titular character, Sananth and Rishikanth also lead the cast of the film. Other members of Dorothy's cast includes Ramachandran Durairaj, Gajaraj, Muthukumar, and Jeeva Subramanian, among others.

Karthik Subbaraj is producing the Dorothy under his Dhammam Films banner. Guneet Monga and Aachin Jain are also producing under the Sikhya Entertainment banner, with Jyoti Deshpande producing under the Jio Studios banner.
