India does not have too many professional racers competing in international leagues such as the Formula One. Given this tracker record, it is understandable why someone like Ajith Kumar taking part in professional racing would bring more attention to motorsport in India. Many of Ajith's recent races enjoyed plenty of footfall in circuits and ignited much curiosity among casual viewers in India. However, Ajith recently said that he does not believe he is the designated person for popularising the sport in the country.

In a conversation with a reporter at one of his recent races, Ajith Kumar was asked whether he feels more responsibility with regard to bringing more attention to motorsport in India. In response the actor said, "I don't think I have the right to say that I am 'the chosen one'. It is wrong to say that."

Ajith also said that he has an affinity for motorsport and that he is pursuing his dream right now. At the same time, he added, "I hope that it influences youngsters and others, including sponsors and central and state governments, to see what they can do to bring all these events like the Le Mans series, the Graven Tech, the GT 4, and so forth to India."

Ajith has been on a long break from cinema and concentrating on the Michelin Le Mans Cup. He is set to start filming for Daredevil, his upcoming film with director Adhik Ravichandran. The film is expected to bring the actor back together with his Good Bad Ugly director. Recently, it was revealed that the film would go on floors in November. Beyond Dare Devil, the actor also has a documentary, titled Gladiators, which is based on his motorsport life and career.
