Director H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay in his final film, hit theatres in July this year and went on to gross more than 300 crore at the global box office. Despite receiving mostly mixed to negative reviews from critics and a section of the audience, the film turned out to be a commercial success for producer Venkat K Narayana's KVN Productions banner. Subsequently, the film dropped on ZEE5, thus having its digital premiere. However, the audience will soon have another opportunity to watch the Vijay starrer once again in theatres.

On Friday, Sri Sakthi Cinemas shared on X that it will exhibit the film from 6:00 pm on September 20, Sunday, in its Tiruppur location. Moreover, director H Vinoth will also be present at the venue for the special screening of the film. Making the announcement on social media, the theatre group shared, "The last day. The last show. One final celebration of Jana Nayagan with director H Vinoth himself. Let’s celebrate the final dance of Thalapathy Vijay."

The film tells the story of a leader named Vetri Kondan, who does not fear anything and who takes on a corruption-ridden system in order to protect ordinary citizens. It has an indirect reference to Vijay's party, TVK, with the actor's character being referred to as Thalapathy Vetri Kondan at one point. Further, its trailer released with the superstar being addressed as Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Besides Vijay, the film stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, Gautam Vasudev Menon, and Priyamani, among others.

While Vijay has quit acting for a full-time career in politics, there is still some rumour about him being featured in Ajith Kumar's upcoming documentary, Gladiators, which is expected to have a theatrical release soon.
