Distributor Thirupathi Pictures has revealed that the planned rerelease of Vijay's 2005 film Thirupaachi, co-starring Trisha, has been postponed to a yet-unannounced date. It was earlier scheduled for an October 01 rerelease. The decision has been made by taking the number of new releases on and around the said date into account.
As reported earlier, October 01 will see the release of Ram's Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, starring Nivin Pauly, Soori, and Anjali, and the Vijay Sethupathi-Lijomol Jose starrer Baththa. Also slated for an October 01 release is director Niranjan's Mr Bhaarath, starring Bhaarath and Samyuktha Vishwanathan as well as presented by Presented by Lokesh Kanagaraj's G Squad banner.
Subsequently, October 02 will see the release of Vijay's son Jason Sanjay's directorial debut, Sigma. Starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, Sigma was earlier slated for a July 31 release, but its makers postponed the film after KVN Productions moved Vijay's swansong, Jana Nayagan, to July 23, Thursday.
It is speculated that the decision to move the Thirupaachi rerelease from October 01 has been taken mainly considering Sigma's scheduled October 02 release. Announcing the decision, Thirupathi Pictures wrote, "As a distribution company deeply committed to the growth and prosperity of the cinema industry, we are currently witnessing a fantastic lineup of new films gearing up for release in the coming months. To encourage these fresh releases and support our vibrant film fraternity, we have consciously decided to step back and temporarily postpone the re-release of Thirupaachi."
The distributor added, "We firmly believe in standing by the industry, cinema will always thrive, and we will always be here to support its continuous growth. Please rest assured that a new re-release date will be officially announced very soon."
