At the trailer launch event for Sardar 2, actor Karthi opened up about making a film for his fans. Karthi will reprise his dual role as Chandra Bose and Vijay Prakash in the upcoming film, which opens on September 10.

He said, "My fans have provided me unwavering support over the years." He added, jokingly, "For the past three years I know I have troubled them." Karthi went on to say, "I did Japan (2023), which was an important film. I had always wanted to work with Raju Murugan. It didn't turn out as we expected it to. But when Aavesham (2024) released, I realised Japan should have turned out like this. I did Meiyazhagan (2024) after that, but that was one without action. My fans like a lot of action films. But that is a work of art, and that should find a place in Tamil cinema, hence I did that. I am so happy it is celebrated. I worked with Nalan (Kumarasamy on Vaa Vaathiyaar), because directors like him should keep working in Tamil cinema and should have their space here. He shouldn't be without an artist, so I worked with him, which turned out to be a fantastic experience."

He added, "But this time, no stone was left unturned. We immersed ourselves while making this film. We have made this film as one which you will enjoy very much. The director has put in a lot of efforts into realising what makes a film enjoyable to the audience."

PS Mithran returns to write and direct Sardar 2, which also features Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, Achyuth Kumar, Balaji Sakthivel, and Rajisha Vijayan in its cast.
