Actor Trisha is being considered to portray former actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a biographical film titled Puratchi Thalaivar MGR, according to a report by Dinamalar. Actor JM Bashir, known for his work in Desiya Thalaivar, is set to play Tamil Nadu's former actor and Chief Minister MG Ramachandran (MGR), in the upcoming biopic. The film is expected to trace different stages of MGR's life, including his early life, cinematic career and political legacy.

He also mentioned that his daughter and the actor are friends and are currently working together in a film. However, Trisha's casting has not been officially confirmed and is said to be under discussion. While Trisha's possible casting has piqued great interest, the actor's acceptance of the role is not yet confirmed.

Bashir reportedly told the media that several significant characters of political leaders, like CN Annadurai and M Karunanithi, will be included in the film. The director and music composer of the film have not been declared yet. While the creators are in the selection process for several important roles, the film is scheduled to commence principal photography soon in Ramapuram, Chennai, according to Bashir.

MGR, who was a celebrated actor, found the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and served as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister from 1977 to 1987, until his death. Jayalalithaa later led the party, succeeding him and becoming one of the most influential political leaders in the history of Tamil Nadu. If Trisha's role is finalised, she will be portraying a powerful character in the film.
